OCTOBER! ADOPT A SHELTER DOG MONTH

Why adopt a shelter dog?

Adopting a dog can free up space for ANOTHER dog who needs the kennel.

There are plenty of dogs to choose from at area shelters. They come in every age, shape, size, coat color and breed mix, and you can even find purebreds often, too.

Adopting an older dog allows you to bypass the often frustrating puppy stage.

Adopting an adult dog takes the guesswork out of wondering just what it will look like or how big it will be.

Often the dogs are already housebroken and have a profile history provided by the former owner.

Many of the dogs already are leash trained and know the basic commands of sit, stay and come!

Like most, our shelter does behavior assessments to help you find the best fit for your situation.

Your adopted dog comes vaccinated, spayed or neutered, dewormed, has a flea or flea/tick preventative, a microchip, a CVI from a Veterinarian and a package of information and goodies to help you on your way!

For families with children, adopting from a shelter begins the conversation of what responsible pet ownership is and why so many dogs are in shelters all over the country! It also lets them realize how it feels to truly make a difference in a shelter dog’s life!

An older adopted pet can be the perfect companion for an older person. Many middle-aged and senior dogs require less physical exertion and attention than younger animals. And we have a great SENIORS FOR SENIORS pricing program!

The unconditional love and loyalty of an adopted dog can lift depression, ease loneliness, lower blood pressure, and give you a reason to get up in the morning.  A dog that loves to walk or run outdoors can be just the incentive you need to start exercising regularly, too!
