Thank you so much for giving us the chance, two years ago, to welcome Callie (formerly Tequila) into our family. Before Callie came into our lives, we were still carrying the quiet ache of losing our last sweet girl. Her absence left a silence in our home that felt overwhelming — the empty bed, the missing footsteps, the routines that suddenly had no one there to fill them. Grief has a way of carving out a space so specific that it feels impossible to imagine anything fitting there again.
But Callie didn't come into our lives to replace her. Instead, she arrived gently, with soft eyes and a hopeful heart, and little by little she began to bring warmth back into the places that had gone cold. She honored the love we lost simply by being herself — tender, joyful, eager to be part of our world. Slowly, she wove herself into our lives in a way that didn't erase our grief, but helped us carry it.
Over these two years, she has become such a constant source of light. She loves running errands with her semi-retired dad, proudly taking her place as his co-pilot. She looks forward to picking her mom up from work every day, greeting her with the kind of excitement that makes even the hardest days feel lighter. She comes alive the moment she steps outside — whether it's a simple walk or the unforgettable cross-country road trip she took with us to the Grand Tetons. Every experience feels bigger, sweeter, and more meaningful with her by our side.
Because of the love, care, and safety you gave her before we met her, Callie was able to walk into our broken hearts and help them heal. She didn't fill the old shoes by replacing the pawprints that were there — she filled them by creating her own, right alongside the ones we still cherish.
We will forever be grateful to you for giving her a chance, and for giving us the gift of loving her. She has brought joy back into our home, peace back into our routines, and healing into a place we weren't sure could ever feel whole again.
