Become a Volunteer

Be the change – become a volunteer.

You get to choose how you can help. We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available. Select what suits you…then join us – you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the difference you can make! Interested parties will need to submit a volunteer application, follow the link at the bottom of this page!

Interested Parties Should Consider Before Applying:
*Due to the amount of orientation/training we require for our volunteer positions, we ask for a 6 month commitment of 5 hours per month.
*Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Minors between 5-15 years may “volunteer” with a parent or guardian who is a registered volunteer. There should be one adult working with each child. *Minors between 16-17 years may volunteer within the building with the consent of a parent or guardian.
*Volunteers must be able to comprehend (either written or verbal) detailed policies and procedures as well as remember and follow all shelter rules. If a volunteer applicant is unable to understand and fulfill responsibilities independently, a parent, guardian or caregiver will be required to assist them as a registered volunteer.
*We do background checks (CCAP).
*If you are volunteering for your court ordered community service, you must notify HSMC when you apply. Court ordered community service will be addressed on a case by case basis.
*Service Leaning Hours/Projects for students will be based on staff/task availability. We are not able to accommodate everyone. Volunteers must have access to email. All communications with volunteers is done via email.

*Apply here!*

*After you have applied, please be sure to check your spam folder for future communications from HSMC.  The email address you will want to allow is volunteers@catsndogs.org *

We can’t wait for you to join us in making humane treatment possible for all living creatures.
